lyrics

He told me to look in the back of his truck
As he sat in the front with his knee socks pulled up,
I thought he was full of crap til I saw,
In the back counted four plastic legs of a dog.
Two ears, one nose, yeah it looked almost real,
Wondered, what was the deal?
Was this lifeguard for real?
I looked at this creature as it looked at me,
With a glint in its eye and a chip in its teeth.

A sight so strange, one that I’d never seen,
Round its collar of green was a note I should read,
Inside a ziplock bag it was sealed,
A mystery concealed that would soon be revealed.
I opened it up and unfolded the note,
This had to be a joke,
Couldn’t believe this bloke,
But then again this was the open road,
Where anything goes, I’ll just follow my nose.

I picked up this dog, put him under my arm,
He was warm from the sun, though the day’d just begun,
We walked to the window where Tyler was waiting,
Anticipating my next move,
Debating, should I take him with me?
Strap him onto my bike,
So I’d be quite a sight, it’s the weight I don’t like,
Instead let’s jus hang for a while in the sand,
Have a swim, get a tan,
How is that for a plan?
Make eyes with the surfers,
Bark at the sea.
It’s just you rex, and me.
Oh, and Tyler the lifeguard.
What a peculiar three.
